Today, in Bologna, I held two workshops, one for gynecologists and one for urologists. I talked about the role of psychosexual counselling with patients waiting to have penile prosthesis surgery to the urologists’ group, whereas I talked about counselling patients with pelvic prolapse and/or urinary incontinence to the gynecologists’ group.
I think it’s important to give to these patients the opportunity to talk about the psychological, emotional and sexual difficulties they might go through, considering they often experience their bodies as out of control or broken, and to encourage them to not give up on their love and sexual life.
