After graduating in Psychology (BSc) at London Metropolitan University of London, she continued her studies in Italy, obtaining an MSc in Clinical Psychology at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan. Afterwards, she trained for four years at Istituto Ricerca e Formazione of Florence and became a Clinical Sexologist and for four years at Centro Terapia Cognitiva in Como, becoming a Psychotherapist, graduating summa cum laude. She is highly specialized in the treatment of Trauma and Dissociative Disorders (EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Intensive Training with Dr. Kathy Steele).

As a Couple Therapist, she trained in Couple Therapy approaches renowned both nationally (Couple Therapy with Dr. Maurizio Dodet) and internationally, such as in EFT (Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy) with Dr. Sue Johnson and in the Gottman Method. Moreover, she is an expert of LGBTQIA+ issues, gender variance and gender dysphoria.
Dr. Gaia Polloni is author and co-author of several scientific articles and a very active speaker at congresses. She is often a guest on TV programs and Radio shows.

Having lived both in the UK and in the US for many years, she is bilingual and practices in English on a daily basis.
